home

Having been home for almost a month now (including a week in KL and Ipoh), I must say, it is so so good to be home. But that said, I realise too how I've left behind a life in London that I look forward to return to in September. (am hoping London'll win the 2012 bid!)

Work so far is slow, although tiring at times. At least I'm getting what I wanted out of it, even now. So much to say now! These days I've taken to writing, pencil lead on paper may fade out, but perhaps that lends the memory a truer sense of bluredness slowly creeping onto the page.

"Because desire just cheats you. It's like a sunbeam skipping here and there about a room. It stops and gilds some inconsequential object, and moves on to something else, and you've got the inconsequential part, but the glitter that made you want it is gone- "

"I don't want just words. If that's all you have for me you'd better go."
"What's death to me is just a lot of words to you. You put 'em together so pretty."

- The Beautiful and Damned, F. Scott Fitzgerald

Overall, not a book that I'll read and re-read, though there were flashes of undeniable brilliance, and lots of what the intro called "sweetly unnecessary" bits. But I especially didn't like the ending, and all those awful bits where he breaks away from prose into play.
